  • St Patrick's Well, Nassau St, Dublin

News Gary writes: "The well that didn't disappear

I note with interest that a number of people are under the impression that St Patrick's Well at the Nassau St entrance to Trinity College Dublin has 'vanished without a trace'.

I am happy to report that this is not so, and that this once-famous well still exists in all its glory.

The well is located in an underground chamber directly under your feet as you enter the college building at that entrance.

The actual entrance to the 'well house' is through a door in the corner of the Provost's Garden, and permission must be sought to visit it.

I have not yet seen it myself, but believe that it still contains water.

    A happy story for once!
